Activites and Awards Provided to Our Honorees

In April the students selected, along with their parents, are honored at a reception in the School Administration building.

Then the honorees participate in a field trip into the civic and business communities.

Recent field trips include: United States Air Force Academy, The Rocky Mountain News,
Wings Over the Rockies Air Museum, The Wildlife Experience, The Denver Museum of Natural History and The National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Finally, a banquet for them and their parents is held at Johnson and Wales University to provide a formal atmosphere for the presentation of awards and commemorative plaques.

In recent years the Kiwanis Club of Denver has awarded each honored student a $50 United States Savings Bond.

The Board provides framed certificates and three banquet tickets for the student and his family or friends.

Each banquet program features a speaker from the civic community and a specially prepared review of each student’s achievements as well as the rewarding of certificates, bonds and other carry home mementos.

Recently, special $50 memorial cash awards, honoring Lloyd and June Corson the founders of the Denver Chapter, and Frank C. Ames and Robert and Margaret
Alexander have been added to further reward the top four honorees.
