DESCRIBE UP TO FIVE SPECIFIC EXAMPLES OF ACTIVITIES THAT DEPICT OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP AND THE NOMINEE’S INVOLVMENT IN THESE ACTIVITIES.

·         Adopt a Highway – Is consistent in attendance at our Adopt a Highway activity, never misses a session

·         Volunteers at the local Senior Resource Center - helps by reading stories and telling jokes to the patients there. (Sneaks in snacks sometimes, I’m told)

·         Language tutoring - works with students with language skill challenges through translation and providing a health practice environment.

·         Spanish Club – as President is responsible for meeting plans, after school activity coordination and recruiting members.

·         Home activities – is involved in meal preparation, clean-up and small repairs around the house.  This sometimes involves long hours of baby sitting with the new baby.

DESCRIBE HOW THIS PERSON HAS DEMONSTRATED RESPECT AND LOYALTY FOR OTHERS AND FOR AUTHORITY INCLUDING PARENTS, SCHOOL, JOB, ORGANIZATIONS AND COUNTRY.

------- is always respectful of teachers, counselors and classmates.  The many volunteer activities in the school, community and home show a deep concern and respect for others.

If you could see the positive attitude and interaction toward and with others you would be as proud as I am.  While not always at the top of the class grade-wise, there is no one that I know that more completely demonstrates what a good citizen does.

---------- knows good language will open a lot of doors and works hard to improve ------- own skills and helps others learn as well.

I have never heard ------- speak back to or negatively about any fellow student or teacher.

A GREAT example of what citizenship is indeed!

THE NOMINEE MUST RESPOND TO THIS QUESTION:  "WHAT DOES CITIZENSHIP MEAN TO YOU AND HOW HAVE YOU DEMONSTRATED SUCH CITIZENSHIP?”

Citizenship means being loyal to your family, church, country and school.  It means you should be involved in activities in all those places and always work for the betterment of all.  I don’t think it means putting yourself behind all others but it does mean you should help out wherever and whenever you can.

I volunteer in a few places and my favorites are the Senior Citizen Center and the Adopt a Highway.  You should know how good it feels to get someone who is down in the dumps to smile or laugh.  Wow, better than chocolate.  I have taken home some pretty cool stuff from the highway too!  I think I get a lot more than I give.

I try to stay away from people who are always griping and blaming other for what they think is wrong,  You know we get enough bad stuff from TV and newspapers and those politicians are not team players at all.  They should see how much they could get done by working toward a solution instead of finger pointing.

Someone once said “United we stand, but divided we fall” or something like that and I believe it!
