The Selection Process
In December of each year, nomination forms are delivered to the principals of each of the schools served.
The schools then select or appoint a liaisan person to coordinate the nomination process within the individual school.
In February of each year students are nominated by their teachers and/or other persons in their community or school.
These nominations are submitted to the Board of Directors of Colorado Youth Citizenship Awards where they are organized to be submitted to a committee chaired by a person who is not a member of the board of directors.
The selection committee is comprised of from eight to ten people from within the Board of Directors and impartial persons from the broader community area.
In March the selections are made and communicated to the schools and their respective honorees.
